January 26, 2018 MARKHAM- FCCM, Markham municipal government and Presenting sponsors-TD and RESPON kicked off the Chinese New Year Celebrations 2018 at the press conference at Markham Civic Centre to announce this year’s exciting lineup of shows and entertainment. Many community dignitaries including Markham Mayor Frank Scarpitti, Regional Councillor Nirmala Armstrong, Markham City Council Amanda Yeung Collucci and Logan Kanapathi, Federation of Chinese Canadians in Markham (FCCM) Chairman, Dr. Ken Ng and the representatives of Presenting and main Sponsors were present at the press conference in the afternoon.
Dr. Ken Ng, Chairman of the Federation of Chinese Canadians in Markham, announced the Chinese New Year celebration will be on Sunday, February 11,2018 from 1pm to 4pm at the Markham Civic Centre. The Markham Civic Centre Chinese New Year celebration will have a lineup of entertainment including God of fortune, lion dance performance, Chinese Martial arts, Chinese folk dance, singing, and Chinese instrument performances. Canada Post also unveiled the Year of the Dog stamp at the press conference. The stamps and coins will be on sale at the Canada Post booth, and the artist who designs the stamp and coin will autograph for the participants on site on February 11, 2018.
Besides Markham city centre Chinese new year celebration, the Lunar New Year Dinner Gala will be held at 6:30 pm on Friday, February 16, 2018 at Le Parc Dining and Banquet Hall, Markham. The proceeds of this dinner gala will be used for the operation of FCCM to improve the service to the citizens in Markham. Dr. Ken Ng introduced that the dinner gala will have excellent performances including Traditional Chinese Han ceremony and tea ceremony, Chinese folk dance and singing, and the guests will enjoy Chinese and Italian cuisine. The distinguished guests including Ahmed Hussen (Minister of Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship), Hon. Michael Chan, MPP (Minister of International Trade) , MP Mary Ng, MP Shaun Chen, etc. will attend the dinner.
Dr. Ken Ng also expressed his appreciation to all the guests for attending the press conference. He continued with introducing and thanking the event sponsors including presenting sponsor TD Bank, Respon Wealth Management Corp, Canada Post, China Southern Airlines, King Square, Global King Inc., Atlandtis Development and Phoenix Financial Inc. The representive of TD bank and the president of Respon Wealth Management Corp, Winnie Liao congratulated FCCM for another successful year in the celebration.
Mayor Frank Scarpitti confirmed the efforts of Dr. Ng. He said that the year of the dog symbolizes loyalty and hardworking. In order to celebrate Chinese New Year, the dinner gala will raise fund for FCCM to provide better service for Chinese Canadian in Markham and surrounding areas, enrich the lives of teenagers and seniors and help them integrate into Canadian community. He called on everyone to support the very meaningful event actively.

加拿大道明銀行、瑞邦金融、萬錦加華聯會及萬錦市政府攜手舉辦狗年慶祝活動新聞發佈會
January 26, 2018 MARKHAM -萬錦加華聯會、萬錦市政府及首席赞助商加拿大道明銀行、瑞邦金融為與公眾一起慶祝農歷狗年新年到來，將在2月11日，16日分別舉行萬錦慶華年和農曆新年迎春晚宴， 1月26日下午2時在萬錦市政廳舉行新聞發佈向公眾介紹詳情。萬錦市長薛家平Frank Scarpitti、約克區議員安思壯(Nirmana Armstrong)、市議員楊綺清、Logan Kanapathi 及贊助商代表等出席了1月26日下午在萬錦市政廳舉行的新聞發布會。
萬錦加華聯會主席吳建忠醫生介紹，一年一度的慶祝農曆春節的萬錦慶華年活動將在2018年2月11日下午1時至4時萬錦市政廳舉行。 本次活動將充滿中國傳統新年氣氛，將有醒獅舞龍、中國功夫表演、中國民族舞蹈、傳統樂器表演，亦有財神現場向參與者派發紅包。每年的萬錦慶華年活動都吸引了大量萬錦市民參與，除了華人，也有其他族裔人士參加，共同體驗中國傳統文化和習俗。當日舉行的活動的一個亮點是，加拿大郵局還將在萬錦慶華年活動現場銷售狗年郵票及硬幣，而且設計狗年郵票和硬幣的藝術家將現場為民眾簽名。
除了在萬錦市政廳舉行的慶華年活動外，萬錦加華聯會還將在2月16日正月初一晚6點30分在Le Parc 宴會廳舉行狗年迎春晚宴，本次晚宴的收益將用於萬錦加華聯會的營運從而更好的為萬錦市民服務。吳建忠醫生介紹，晚宴將會有包括中國傳統慶典和茶藝表演、中國傳統歌舞等十分精彩的節目，同時來賓將會享用到中式和意大利佳餚。加拿大聯邦移民部長Ahmed Hussen、安省國際貿易部長陳國治、國會議員伍鳳儀、陳聖源等貴賓將參加晚宴。
吳建忠醫生介紹了今年春節慶祝活動的首席贊助商加拿大道明銀行和瑞邦金融集團 及主要贊助商中國南方航空、王府井廣場、Atlandtis Development Ltd、鯤鵬貸款等 公司,感謝他們的大力支持。加拿大道明銀行代表及瑞邦金融总裁廖子蔚代表其公司致辭，預祝活動成功。
