MARKHAM-July 23, 2016- The Federation of Chinese Canadians in Markham (FCCM),  TD Taste of Asia’s organizers, hosted a Volunteer Appreciation Reception on Saturday July 23, 2016. The reception was held in the Varley Art Gallery located on Main Street Unionville to show Taste of Asia’s appreciation of the support it has gotten from its many volunteers and community supporters.

Taste of Asia and FCCM’s chairman and founder, Dr. Ken Ng opened up the reception with a welcoming speech thanking all supporters of the Taste of Asia festival which included community leaders, sponsors, volunteers and performers. As well, invited on the podium to speak about Taste of Asia’s success over the years were Hon. Minister Michael Chan and Markham’s Ward 2 councillor and Taste of Asia platinum sponsor, Alan Ho.

Guests were invited to view the special “Chinese Art Exhibition” for free from the 19th century at the Varley Art Gallery during the Reception being held in conjunction with FCCM and Taste of Asia Festival. In addition, a free business seminar was held titled “Be Mortgage and Debt-Free” by FCCM’s business division, the Chinese Chamber of Commerce in Markham (CCCM).

Invited guests include Taste of Asia’s Volunteer committee and team, staff, Taste of Asia’s performers and community supporters such as  Minister of International Trade, Michael Chan, Markham’s Ward 2 Councillor, Alan Ho,  Markham’s Regional Councillor, Nimala Armstrong, Markham’s Ward 6 Councillor Amanda Collucci, Markham’s Senior Business Development Officer, Sandra Tam, Director of the Varley Art Gallery, Niamh O’Laoglaire and many more.

Refreshments and finger food were provided to guests while they mixed and mingled.

Thus, the 14th annual Taste of Asia festival was successfully wrapped up at the Varley Art Gallery with appreciation for those who contributed to this significant cultural event.
