February 4, 2018 – Vaughan – Continuing to blaze a trail in this year’s Chinese New Year celebrations, TD-FCCV and the City of Vaughan hosted its 8th annual celebratory festival at Vaughan City Hall.
As always, the planning committee created a specular event featuring a number of activities, displays, and performances for all to enjoy.
In celebration of the Year of the Dog, there were dazzling performances including a special Northern lion dance, an eye-dotting ceremony, and a visit from the God of Fortune.

There were also featured activity booths with fun paper crafts, games for visitors of all ages, and fai chun (a calligraphy decoration) for good luck, to name a few.

A free event for all from performances to crafts, there was even scrumptious Chinese food for everyone to enjoy!
Among the crowd was Dr. Ken Ng, the Chairman of the Federation of Chinese Canadians in York Region (FCCYR) & Vaughan ( FCCV), the Mayor of Vaughan, Maurizio Bevilacqua; Regional Councillor, Michael Di Biase; Ward 4 Councillor, Sandra Yeung Racco; Deputy Mayor Mario Ferri; Regional Councillor, Gino Rosati; Councillor Marilyn Iafrate; Hon. Michael Chan, Ontario Minister of International Trade and Hon. Steven Del Duca, Ontario Minister of Economis Development; M.P. Sorbara and M.P. Jean Yip; Chhat Chour, Honorary Consul General of Cambodia ; Dominic Lee from the First Chinese Seniors Association of Vaughan; and of the God of Fortune.
Dr. Ken Ng extended his warmest thanks to all those who supported or attended the celebration and wished everyone a happy Chinese New Year. This year’s event was organized in partnership with TD Canada and the City of Vaughan.
Federation of Chinese Canadians in Vaughan is the Vaughan Chapter of the Federation of Chinese Canadians in York Region (FCCYR), which grew from the prominent FCCM, being the organizers of many activities in York Region to help the integration of Chinese Canadians and foster intercultural friendship.
Vaughan is just one huge success in a series of Chinese New Year events organized with the FCCM.
