2019 FCCM Mid-Autumn Festival 中秋節

The time of the Mid-Autumn Festival, also known as the Moon Festival, is fast approaching. This is the time when the Chinese people celebrate their harvests, a happy occasion very similar to our Canadian Thanksgiving.

中秋節,是華人慶祝豐收的喜慶日子。相比之下,加拿大的感恩節與之非常相似,兩個節日都是傳統意義上家庭團聚的大日子。

This year’s Mid-Autumn Festival is an event celebrating family and togetherness. It is a time for a reunion between family and friends, to share stories while enjoying mooncakes under the full harvest moon. The Lunar Festival symbolizes prosperity, happiness, and peace. FCCM will invite guests for dessert reception and an evening of entertainment with songs, dances, magic show and riddle guessing.

This annual Mid-Autumn Festival is organized by the Federation of Chinese Canadians in Markham (FCCM). It is one of many events alongside the Taste of Asia event that FCCM has successfully organized for the past 17 years with over 250,000 attendees of diverse backgrounds coming to participate. With the extensive success of Taste of Asia, this upcoming Mid-Autumn Festival is intended to further emphasize on the celebration of family reunions and the gathering of friends.

We invite you, your family and friends to come out on September 14, 2019 at King Square Shopping Centre, 9390 Woodbine Ave, Markham, ON, L6C 0M5 and be a part of this once-in-a-year festival.

The admission is free and everyone is welcome!
