Chinese New Year Event 2025

Chinese New Year Event 2025 This Chinese New Year, the Federation of Chinese Canadians in Markham had the privilege of celebrating with our community at three distinct events. These celebrations took place on February 1st, 7th, and 15th, 2025, at the Markham Civic Centre, Vaughan City Playhouse, and the FCCM Centre. We extend our heartfelt gratitude to all of our generous sponsors, dedicated volunteers, community partners, and talented performers who contributed their time, energy, and resources to ensuring the success of these events. Your support was instrumental in bringing our community together to celebrate this joyous occasion. We would also like to express our sincere appreciation to all attendees who joined us at these events, particularly considering the challenging weather conditions. Your unwavering enthusiasm and commitment to honoring this cultural tradition despite the elements were truly inspiring. We look forward to continuing our celebration of cultural diversity and building stronger bonds within our community in the future.

Community Toy Drive 2024

Christmas Toy Drive 2024 On Sunday December 8th, we hosted our Community Toy Drive event at the FCCM Center, and we are thrilled to report that it was an overwhelming success! Thanks to our Ward Councilor Ritch Lau and Isa Lee, over 100 toys were collected, including everything from action figures and dolls to educational games and art supplies, ensuring there was something for every child! The generosity from our community was truly inspiring, and together, we were able to make the holiday season brighter for so many children in need! A huge thank you to all the donors, volunteers, and community partners who helped make this event such a success! Your kindness and support have brought so much joy to families in need, and we couldn’t have done it without you. Here’s to continuing to spread love and kindness, and making every holiday season brighter for those who need it most. We look forward to more successful events like this in the future!

Mid-Autumn Festival 2024 The Mid-Autumn Festival, also known as the Moon Festival, is a traditional celebration observed in various East Asian cultures, typically falling on the 15th day of the 8th month of the lunar calendar. This festival celebrates the harvest and the full moon, symbolizing unity and family reunion. Join us at FCCM with our annual Mid-Autumn celebration and embrace the joy and warmth of Festival  September 22nd Mid-Autumn/Olympics Celebration  The Mid-Autumn/Olympics celebration aims to bring together athletes, fans, and cultures from around the world to honor the spirit of competition and camaraderie. We are honored to partner with TD Bank Canada to bring the Mid-Autumn festival spirit alongside the the celebration of athletes! Adult Chinese Dance

Adult Chinese Dance Class Information/班級資訊 Time/時間: Friday, 1pm to 2:15pm 星期五,下午 1:00 至 2:15 Location/地點: FCCM Cultural Centre, 9390 Woodbine Ave Unit 327, Markham, ON L6C 0M5 Price/價錢 $100 for 10 classes Class Outline/課程: For young dancers, with at least 1 year consistent dance training.         ● Full-body Warmup: aim to make sure muscles and joints are nicely warmed up and ready to explore movements safely.        ● Ballet Technique: introduction to selected basic ballet vocabularies, including stationary and traveling movements, and ballet-based conditioning exercises.         ● Exploring Pirouettes & Allegro: progressive buildups specifically designed for improving turns and jumps.        ● Intro to Character dance: an introduction to some character dance steps with stylised ballet technique.        ● Cool-down & Relaxation: themed stretches and relaxation practices with guidance, in order to allow the body to restore quickly. 整體暖身運動:首要確保肌肉和關節已充分熱身,以做好準備,安全地進行課堂。 芭蕾舞基礎技巧訓練:認識基礎芭蕾舞詞彙及其舞姿,包括定點和移動重心的各種練習,並會配合針對芭蕾舞技巧為核心的身體質素強化訓練。 芭蕾舞轉動和跳躍技巧:由淺入深,聚焦探索芭蕾舞轉動和跳躍的技巧。 歐洲民族舞入門:學習富有歐洲民族舞風格元素的芭蕾舞舞步,着重節奏與角色扮演,有助完整芭蕾舞技巧。 冷靜與放鬆:在指導下進行重點拉伸和放鬆練習,以減輕身體疲勞,幫助恢復。

Taste of Asia 2024 | 1 Day Left!! There is only one day left until the long-awaited Taste of Asia 2024! From the savoury foods to mesmerizing performances, there are many things to look out for here at Taste of Asia. Not only are there over 180+ vendors to offer you food, drinks, snacks, and other services, but we also have a fun play area for children and a stage for all kinds of performances. Not to mention our three featured stars; Martin Yan, Henry Ng, and Mimi Lo! They will all bring at least one show to the public, and you would not want to miss it. In addition, we have many new and returning performers putting on their best performances for us all! Tomorrow at 5PM, outside of Pacific Mall! We will see you all there!

Taste of Asia 2024 | 3 Days Left!!

Taste of Asia 2024 | 3 Days Left!! Only 3 days left until the long-awaited Taste of Asia 2024! Taste of Asia is one of Canada’s largest Asian festivals, held annually in the City of Markham, right on Kennedy Road beside Pacific Mall. The festival takes places over the weekend of June 28 to June 30th and celebrates the diverse cultures and cuisines of Aisa.  Our attendees can expect a wide range of Asian culinary delights, with vendors from every region from Asia. From savoury street food to sweet deserts, there will be something for every pallet. There will also be featured performances from dancing to singing to martial arts and other entertainment formats that showcase the various heritages of Asian communities. There are also educational, arts and crafts vendors, cultural exhibits, and activities for all ages, making this a family-friendly event. Below, there is our two other featured stars; Harry Ng and MiMi Lo. TOA 2024’s First Special Guest, Harry Ng, found his stride in music as a kid. He originally intended to major in Civil Engineering, but after a few semesters he dropped out and pursued a career as a singer-songwriter, spurred by his passion for music. He would build up a following of fans who admired his proficiency for excellent lyricism and vocal talent; thus cementing his legacy as Canto-pop star of the modern era.   TOA 2024’s Second Special Guest, Mimi Lo started her music career with the breakthrough hit “挑戰者 The Challenger”. After a brief hiatus, Lo reemerged into the spotlight after appearing on an episode of the voice. She has since gone on to create many more albums and become a major HK pop culture icon. Their performances are something you would not want to miss! You can find them on the stage on the evening of Saturday, June 29th, 2024!

Taste of Asia 2024 | 4 Days Left!

Taste of Asia 2024 | 4 Days Left! Only 4 days left until Taste of Asia 2024! One of the largest Asian festival held in Canada with over 300,000 attendees in 2023. You do not want to miss out on all the different types of foods, performances, and community events that are happening across all three days! Look out because we have invited chef Martin Yan to this years festival!He is one of the three special guest here at Taste of Asia 2024. Martin Yan continues to be an active international food ambassador throughout his career. He strives to represent different commercial and social concerns to educate and entertain the public, sharing with them through his unique humor and strong passion for Chinese cuisine. He is known for hosing the Yan Can Cook on PBS-TV since 1982. Renowned for his expertise in Chinese cuisine, he has authored many cookbooks and is celebrated for his engaging cooking style, promoting Asian cuisine worldwide. Martin Yan will appear all three days here at Taste of Asia 2024! On Friday, you can find him on the stage at around 9PM where he will be hosting games and a lucky draw! You would not want to miss out on the prizes that YOU may win. On Saturday, around 5:15PM, Martin Yan will be on stage showcasing how to debone a chicken and maybe other cuisine hacks. You can also find him on Sunday at 1PM on the stage! What he will be performing will remain a secret so come and find out yourself!

Fundraising Gala | May 15, 2024 On May 15, 2024, F.C.C.M. held our 35th anniversary at Crystal Fountain Event Venue, marking this significant milestone with a night full of inspiring speakers and delightful performances; from Dr. Ken Ng, Mayor Frank Scarpitti, as well as regional councillors who contributed to the celebratory atmosphere. Our young performers also added a vibrant touch to the evening, showcasing their talents and enthusiasm. The Fundraising Gala was a highlight of the night, offering guests a memorable experience with savory foods, elegant performances, and exciting lucky draws. It was a night to remember, celebrating our community’s achievements and looking forward to the future with optimism and joy. Award Ceremony | Special Thanks A special award was presented to individuals who have actively promoted diversity and unity in our community. Their efforts have significantly contributed to the vibrant and diverse community we enjoy today.
