萬錦市加華聯會將在「王府井購物中心」開展一系列商場和社區推廣活動

甫進入萬錦市新地標的「王府井購物中心」中央大堂,便可看到豎立了幾十尺高,閃爍耀眼的聖誕樹。在高樓底猛光線的襯托下,添上濃厚節日氣氛。

萬錦市加華聯會和萬錦華商會於12月8日星期六下午,選擇了這個即將啟幕的大多倫多地區全新五星級購物中心來舉辦歲末聚會,與政商界朋友一同慶祝節日。

萬錦市加華聯會和萬錦華商會主席吳建忠醫生表示,這是因為「王府井購物中心」將是萬錦市加華聯會的新會址。“我們很高興能夠在2019年搬遷到這裡佔地10,000平方尺的新空間。”

吳建忠醫生又表示,萬錦市加華聯會將與「王府井購物中心」一起合作,籌劃明年開展一系列商場和社區推廣活動,以支持這個充滿活力的萬錦市,就像該會多年來在城市廣場和太古廣場努力作出的貢獻一樣。

他又闡述了2019年的其它計劃,包括在「王府井購物中心」舉辦多元文化活動,促進非華人社區對中國文化的了解;同時也邀請非華人社區團體舉辦跨文化的活動,展現他們的文化遺產,雙互體驗各自的文化特色。

萬錦華商會是萬錦市加華聯會屬下的商界交流組織,現正計劃組織前往中國,柬埔寨,泰國和土耳其等國家進行商務之旅,以促進和探索商機。通過萬錦市加華聯會舉辦多年的街頭品牌活動 -「萬錦亞洲文化美食節」,將繼續與這些社區建立良好的關係。

吳建忠醫生進一步透露,除了每年6月底舉辦的「萬錦亞洲文化美食節」之外,萬錦市加華聯會正在籌劃另一場於8月初在「王府井購物中心」的同類大規模活動。

最後他衷心感謝道明銀行的持續支持,否則萬錦市加華聯會的很多活動將無法實現。

王府井購物中心的發展商主席王文一“非常歡迎萬錦市加華聯會在「王府井」安家落戶,能更多幫助社區和幫助新移民。”另外,他表示“隨著商戶增加,相信不久將來,「王府井」能成為休閒娛樂的好地方。”

萬錦市市長讚揚吳建忠醫生洞見

出席這項活動的萬錦市加華聯會名譽主席、萬錦市市長薛家平在講話中表示,萬錦市加華聯會對萬錦市非常重要。 他讚揚吳建忠醫生很早時候已有洞見,將社區人們團結聚集在一起,通過相互聯繫,它使萬錦市成為一個更好的生活和工作場所。

市長還感謝道明銀行支持各種社區組織。他表示,道明銀行集團是萬錦市的第二大僱主。

道明銀行區域副總裁Rachael Wong表示,道明銀行很自豪能與萬錦市加華聯會合作,參與和支持社區活動。

代表萬錦市-於人村選區的省議員彭錦威,別樹一幟,高歌一曲,希望萬錦市加華聯會一切順利,贏得了一片熱烈的掌聲。

大會司儀的萬錦市資深市議員何胡景,和剛就任萬錦市市議員的李詩韻,邀請所有貴賓參加切火雞儀式。在聖誕節吃火雞仍然在加拿大非常受歡迎。萬錦市加華聯會引領社區擁戴這一傳統。

兒童舞蹈班學員通過中國分級考試

來自萬錦市加華聯會文化中心的成人和兒童中國舞蹈班學員,演出了她們的中國傳統舞蹈,為聚會生色不少。她們一直在努力提高自己的舞蹈技巧,尤其是兒童舞蹈班學員。四名學員通過了北京舞蹈學院組織的中國分級考試,當天獲得了市長頒發的證書。

活動以聖誕老人向在場兒童派發聖誕禮物和與客人和觀眾拍照結束。

王府井購物中心位於9390 Woodbine Avenue,靠近404號高速公路和16街的交匯處,提供340,000平方尺的零售商,餐廳,辦公室和娛樂場所,並且還提供充足的停車泊位,最多可容納1,500輛汽車。

FCCM outlines some of the initiatives in 2019

“The holiday season is a time for family, friends, fun and festivity. Thank you to everyone that showed up to the year-end networking reception hosted by Federation of Chinese Canadians in Markham (FCCM) and Chinese Chamber of Commerce in Markham (CCCM) at King Square, the largest Asian Shopping Centre in Eastern Canada. We had a great time, and it was great to see faces old and new. ”

Dr. Ken Ng,  Chairman of FCCM ,  kick started the event by welcoming Mayor of Markham Frank Scarpitti; Markham Councillors Alan Ho, Isa Lee and Khalid Usman; Regional Councillor of York Region Jim Jones; Vaughan Councillor Sandra Racco; Richmond Hill Councillors Godwin Chan and Tom Muench; Member of Ontario Provincial Parliament Billy Pang; former Member of Ontario Provincial Parliament Mario Racco; and former Regional Councillor Mirmala Armstrong. He also introduced District Vice-President TD Bank Rachael Wong and the Chairman of King Square Development Ltd Alvin Wang, etc.

Dr. Ken Ng said that we chose King Square, the brand new 5-star shopping complex in the Greater Toronto area, to celebrate the festive season because this is FCCM’s new home. We are excited to expand into this new premises with 10,000 square-foot of space in 2019. FCCM will be working together  with King Square on a series of programs and activities throughout the year for the benefit of supporting this vibrant community, just like what we have done many years ago in Market Village and Pacific Mall.

He outlined some of the initiatives in 2019 including bringing in multicultural communities to showcase their heritages in King Square, and hosting intercultural activities for non-Chinese community to experience the Chinese culture. CCCM, the Business Division of FCCM, is planning business orientation trips to China, Cambodian, Thailand and Turkey to promote and explore business opportunities. And through our signature event of Taste of Asia, we will continue to develop good relationships with these communities.

Dr. Ng further disclosed that FCCM is in the process of planning another outdoor event in addition to Taste of Asia Festival in early August at King Square.

He thanked TD bank for their continued support and commitment without which the FCCM events would not be possible.

The Chairman of King Square Development Ltd Alvin Wang welcomed FCCM to choose King Square as their new home. He recognized FCCM’s involvement in the community and support to the new immigrants. With the expected opening of more retail stores, he believes King Square Shopping Centre will develop into a great place for shopping and entertainment in the community.

The Mayor of Markham Frank Scarpitti, Honorary Chairman of FCCM,  said in his speech that FCCM is very important to the city of Markham. Dr. Ken Ng has a vision for a very long time to unite the community and bring people together. Through connecting with each other, it made Markham a better place to live and to work in.

The Mayor also thanked TD Bank in supporting various community organizations. In fact, TD Group is the second largest employer in Markham.

Rachael Wong, District Vice-President of TD Bank, said TD Bank is proud to work with FCCM to involve and provide support to the community.

Billy Pang, MPP representing Markham – Unionville, sang a song to wish FCCM all the best and won a big round of applause.

The Emcee, Isa Lee and Alan Ho, invited all dignitaries to participate in the turkey carving. Eating turkey in Christmas remains highly popular

FCCM’s adult and children Dance groups showcased their Chinese traditional dances. They have been working very hard in improving their skills, especially the children’s group. Four young students recently passed the prestigious Chinese graded examination by Beijing Dance Academy and were presented with their certificates by the Mayor that day.

The event ended with Santa Claus greeting and taking pictures with guests, and there were lots of food for sharing at the event.

King Square Shopping Centre is located at 9390 Woodbine Avenue — near the intersection of 16th and Woodbine off Highway 404 — it houses some high-end retailers, restaurants, offices and entertainment venues within its 340,000 square foot area. It also provides ample parking spaces that can accommodate up to 1,500 vehicles.
