Taste of Asia 2023: Markham’s Annual Asian Culture and Food Festival Returns for the 21st Year

Markham, Ontario

The Federation of Chinese Canadians in Markham is excited to announce the return of the annual Taste of Asia festival, now in its 21st year, taking place on June 23, 24, and 25 at Kennedy and Steeles.

The event is one of Canada’s largest outdoor festivals, showcasing over 100 food and merchandise vendors, and is made possible with the Federal and Provincial Government, APMC, York Region, the City of Markham, and our Presenting Sponsor TD Bank to celebrate the diverse cultures of Canada.

Each year, Taste of Asia focuses on a different Asian theme, and this year’s theme is “India,” highlighting the country’s culture and cuisine. The festival’s primary goal is to promote Canada’s diverse cultural heritage and to spread the message of inclusion and the elimination of racial discrimination.

To commemorate the 100th anniversary of the Chinese Exclusion Act, a history exhibit on the act will be on display at the event, educating visitors about the hardships immigrants faced and the importance of embracing diversity.

The festival also features an impressive lineup of entertainment, including a performance by Hong Kong artist and singer Sukie Shek, and will be supported by media partners Fairchild TV and Fairchild Radio.
